dark cherry mocha It’s almost the end of spring break. I have accomplished nothing I set out to do. I’ve really done nothing except chill… and eat. A lot. The new Dark Cherry Mocha at Starbucks is heaven! I’ve always loved those Harry and David Bing Chocolate Cherries and this is the liquid version. I need to go get another one tomorrow.

smile you I picked up the cutest tee at H&M. I haven’t been there in a while cuz their stuff got boring the past few seasons but I like their trendy stuff this season. The maritime concept going around is really cute and reminds me a bit of SNSD’s ‘Gee’ from last year. Does this mean next year all the stores will have ‘cheerleader’ and ‘black’ concepts?

gee gee gee gee baby baby

cover me in petals I’ve been a little obessessed with nail polish lately. OPI always has such fun colors. I really wanna try their new Hong Kong line. The last one I bought was ‘Cover me in petals’ from their Sephora line. It’s a nice color but might be too loud to wear often. I also like to do a little bit of nail art with those striper brushes but I saw a woman on TVB the other day with crazy rhinestones glued all over her fake nails. How does she do anything with her hands without having her nails get in the way? It’s impractical and it just looks plain tacky.

The best news this week was the unexpected resurfacing of Jay Park! Even if it is only on youtube. The audio quality is a little off but he sounds and looks great as always. To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of Jay until he left. Then I watched all of 2PM’s old Wild Bunny episodes and he was hilarious! Gosh, it makes me angry that JYP just decided to throw his talent away.

Is it me or does he kinda look like Jo Kwon here?

Side note- does anyone remember the old Halloween movie Hocus Pocus? I just found out that McGee from NCIS was Thackery Binx! I used to have such a crush on him when I was a kid, haha.

Apparently, I only blog twice a year. What a waste of $90 a year. I’ve been avoiding this most likely because I’ve gotten tired of writing about how shitty my life is. Law school has not been kind to me and it’ll only get worse for the next two years. So now I’ve decided to turn this into a ‘things I like’ blog. Time to be positive.

In anticipation of the Oscars this weekend, I’m posting my 5 favorite movies of last year. Please, please, please don’t let Avatar win for best picture! It deserves to win every technical award there is but how can anyone think it deserves best picture? Take away all the special effects and what do you have? Cheesy dialogue and a weak story about the ‘noble savage’ starring blue people instead of Native Americans. Maybe it’s the anthropologist in me, but perpetuation of these outdated stereotypes bug the hell out of me.
Up is by far my favorite movie last year. It almost feels too sophisticated to be a children’s movie. My favorite scene is when Carl flips through the scrapbook. You don’t need any special effects or any dialogue even to convey so much emotion. I would pick Up for best picture but seeing how it’s animated, it doesn’t stand a chance.

I put off watching Star Trek for a long time cuz I’ve never seen any of the original series and frankly don’t care much for sci-fi. But holy heck, Zachary Quinto as Spock alone makes this my second favorite movie of the year! It’s essentially a popcorn flick but then again so is Avatar. I think it also deserves a nom for best picture.

I like how (500) Days of Summer doesn’t retread the same old cliches. Like the movie itself says: it’s not a love story, it’s a story about love. That makes for a refreshing film. Some people find the ending cheesy, but I think it’s cute.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince deserves a spot here simply for being the darkest Harry Potter to date. Dumbledore! After seeing the movie, I had to read the next book, the only book I’ve ever read out of the entire series.

Okay, okay, I’ve been bashing Avatar but I have to admit it was entertaining. The visuals, if nothing else in the film, are breathtaking! And even if I don’t think Sam Worthington is an especially good actor, he does make good eyecandy.

I’ve recently been obsessed with J.Crew clothes. These are few things I bought last week. Most of their stuff, like this jacket that I really really want, is too expensive for my non-existent income but I love the styles. The colors are subtle but the details are distinctly feminine. I like how the clothes look casual without being sloppy.

In the midst of the all the 2PM Jaebeom drama (what is it that he did anyway?), I’ve found new k-pop to listen to after being obsessed with Wedding Dress. It’s none other than… 2AM! Seriously, these guys are good singers and their latest mini-album has some very catchy songs. Obviously Can’t Let You Go Even If I Die is really popular right now but my favorite track is Sorry I Can’t Smile For You.

I haven’t posted in a while cuz I was hoping to have a new layout up before I do. But… as you can see, there is no new layout. :( I really have no idea what to do. I’ll just wait till inspiration hits me… which hasn’t happened in a loooong time. I feel like this layout was sort of thrown together. Maybe when I go to Europe next month, I’ll be inspired! Speaking of Europe, Spain won the Euro cup!!! What a victory! I wanted to see Turkey in the finals. That would have been an incredible match! Can’t wait till World Cup 2010!

I’m back at home now. I came back about three weeks ago. I decided not to take the LSAT till October. I’m trying to study more during the summer and hopefully I’ll get a good score when I do take it. I Haven’t been doing much else here except watching movies. WALL-E was pretty cute. A somewhat horrifying view of what the future could be like, but the little robot is too adorable. I rented Paris, je t’aime yesterday. There were some cute segments (the Gurinder Chadha one), some touching ones (the Nigerian man part), and some just… truly bizarre (the hairdresser one). Overall I liked it and I really can’t wait to see Paris again for myself!

The strangest, most terrifying thing happened today. It was like a scene in a movie- completely unreal. I was walking across the street with my friends. And let me say this now- NEVER JAYWALK! The crosswalks are there for a reason. I hear one of my friends scream out my other friend’s name and out of the blue, a car runs into my other friend. My friend rolls onto the hood of the car, breaks the windshield with her head, and rolls down onto the ground. I could not believe what I was seeing. Luckily she was still conscious and the cops came pretty quickly. An ambulance took her to the emergency room. We waited there for a couple hours, but she turned out to be fine. Her leg took the brunt of it. It was a good thing she turned around when she heard her name or the injuries could have been worse. It was absolutely horrifying to witness it. She’s home now and we have to wake her every three hours to make sure she doesn’t slip into a coma. =/ It’s so scary to think what could have happened. Or how this could have been prevented. If we left the apartment one minute earlier or one minute later, or if we crossed at another section of the street…

It was supposed to be a fun day. :( Onto happier thoughts… I saw the Sex and the City movie last weekend. Abso-fabu-tastic! It was so much funnier than the show. I won’t spoil it for anyone but Carrie gets her own Cinderella moment. So sweet!

One last thing- BARACK OBAMA 2008!! I’m not sure if it would be a good idea for Hilary to get the VP nom. It could result in a clash of two very strong personalities. But yes, so happy it’s Obama!
